Recovered from the cold! :D

Wiiii~ Hello there cutie pies!

So I have been absent from the blog for a while due to a stupid cold. When I get sick, I never manage to finish anything, so blogging is not ideal to do then. Now I'm finally recovered and full of energy, well almost, I'm still a little hoarse in the morning and stuff, but it's overcoming. And Siljes post yesterday really cheered me up. :D so sweet <3

Today I finally got my pass photo taken, and it did not look good... I had to take of my glasses and tilt my chin upwards, which increased the size of my side jaws... I might, just might show it to you later. In the meantime I'll show you guys some photos from my day. ^.^

Today we made some food and worked on a product my class is making. It's got to do with...carrots. ^^
You may not see it, but that's carrots~

Some oranges that we made juice out of :)

I can't live without tea in the winter, or any other season for that matter.
Both me and Silje are big tea-holics.

We also made some pizza to eat today, yummy~
That's a quick view on what we did in school today. It's been so long since we made pizza in school, instead we focus more on things we can use for our exam. So not looking forward to that.... ><

I went shopping for groceries the other day, and this is some of the things I got ^^
Do let me know if you guys want me to make a food post or something. :D
Here is some pictures of me from today.. :p
Chubby Bunny~

It was snowing heavy today! I was a total ball of snow....

...So I bought myself a little candy to cheer me up. ^.^
Well, that's about it for this post ^^
Do give us some ideas to what we can blog about if you have something you want to read.
Bye Bye~

Encouraging pictures just for you!

Hi guys! :D

So, I had a big plan yesterday! It was about Gulli and I taking lots of funny pictures during the theater practice, and post them here for you to laugh of.
However, Gulli is down with sickness. (Does anyone remember the "tropical-flower-planted-on-the north- pole" description I gave of her immune system? Well, it hasn't changed.) This time it's the flu, so she'll probably be down for a while. Hopefully she'll recover enough to blog again soon! ^^
But it wasn't only Gulli. Almost everyone were down with flu! There were hardly anyone there at all!
And the pictures would get rather boring if I were all alone on them, right? This, however, is not an excuse for not blogging yesterday! I was tired and sleepy, BUT it is not an excuse for all you poor people who checked the blog yesterday just to find *nothing*.
That's why, to show how sorry I am (I'm doing this for Gulli too, since her blogging hasn't been too active lately), I'm writing "Sorry" on all the languages I've noticed our readers speak so far:

Beklager! Sorry! Traurig! 죄송합니다! Arrepentido! Désolé! Anteeksi! Förlåt! съжалявам! 失敬!
ごめんなさい! Mi dispiace! Sinto muito! Przykro mi!

That was the languages I could remember for now. As you probably understand I've used google translate on most, and as we all know google translate isn't very accurate... Many of you might be laughing over whatever strange things I've written! Well, I'm sorry for that too :(

I hate the flu season. All of your friends are ill, and I think I'm starting to get it too! I had an awful flu in the beginning of December, and I hope it will be a long time until I get something like that again. Can you imagine spitting in a cup while you're in bed because your throat is too swollen to swallow anything? Yep >.<
That's why I've been drinking many liters of tea the last days, and worn my scarf as a paranoid. I will not loose to the flu! Especially since I got a lot of school work coming up, and this term I promised myself not to fall off.

I have nothing more in particular to blog about today, so I thought I'd put in a bunch of random encouraging and mind blowing pictures ^^

I read a great comment on this: "Life is a wave, and we'll get crushed unless we dive right into it."  ;)

This is me.

And here's one for all of you poor fellows that's struggling with school work out there!  (Including myself.)

Hope some of this pictures brightened your day, if even just a little :3
I would also like to clear out that during the time this post was written, Gulli told me she had recovered again. She even attended school today! Nice going, tropical flower! Evolution always have a solution <3

Talk to you later :D

Why I became a blogger

Good evening sweet ones! ^^

Right now I'm typing carefully while I'm waiting for my nail polish to dry. Due to my laziness my nails have been "au nautral" for a while, and since they started to look ugly I decided to cover them up in deep, shiny Aruba Blue :3 It's a shame that I can't be more careful with my nails, once they've gotten long and pretty, I stop protecting them with basecoat and they all break. It's something very elegant and feminine over long nails. I don't like them super long, but just that little tip that makes the fingers look longer and slimmer.
Haha, but really, this post wasn't supposed to be about nails, anyway!

I have something to confess to you guys. I'm not an experienced blogger, and there are many times I don't have a clue of what to write about, and end up on something random. It's a bit frustrating too, cause' I really want to write about something interesting and helpful to my readers.
I also try to blog everyday. Sakura Kiss is still in a beginner phase, so I find it important to maintain a high activity on the blog, and try to fetch new readers ^.^
Lately our page views have been greatly increasing, so I have a good feeling that we will reach our goal together!

You might wonder why I became a blogger in the first pace?
Well, I've always been a girl with a lots of thoughts and opinions on everything, and it's nice to have a place to share it. I'm very fond of languages, different people and cultures, and the world in general, and that's why I love having an international blog! To get the opportunity to write for people all over the world feels amazing, and I get this tingling feeling whenever I see all the different countries our readers are from :3
I get my inspiration from all types of things, and as you may noticed my posts are quite different from each other too. It goes from Lolita fashion to bad days and personal thoughts and dreams.

I'm not sure what you prefer to read about. Maybe I should continue with a lot of different stuff like before to give you variation?  Sakura Kiss was made to be a lifestyle blog after all, so I'll write anything that I think will brighten your day or encourage you. ^^
Hopefully my posts haven't been that bad, and I hope that anyone who have a wish or idea for this blog doesn't hesitate to tell! We'd love to hear from you, even if it's critique :D
------

As for today, my mood has been on top all day! That's because my favorite band Nu'est released the date for their comeback this morning! ^^ 13th of February is already marked off in the calendar with a big heart :3 They haven't released new songs for over a half year now, so I'm aching to hear something new from them.
It's so nice to have the thought spinning in my back head all the time, that I don't think it's possible for me to have a bad day until the song is released! :D
I'll add the music video from their debut song "Face", which happens to be the most played song on my iPod. Watch it in HD!

Sweet dreams <3

My weekend~

Good evening sweeties~

Today I have been sick and home from school... My body don't handle cold too well, so when we switched bus on Sunday I was likely too cold, and the fact that it's super cold where we were. Anyway, I'm feeling a lot better now, so I'll most likely go to school tomorrow.

I know I've said this before, but I'll really try harder to blog... Once I get more in the rhythm and such I'll probably be better. :p Hope you'll be patient. Since we are getting more and more views I really have to get a grip and get better.

My last post was a quick one I just wrote when I got home, so I didn't upload any of the photos. Tomorrow is another day, and hopefully with more things to write about. ^^ so this one is gonna be a sequel to the other one I guess.

Some food we had the day we arrived. It was so good to finally get something to eat after the long bus ride. ^.^

It was snowing heavily the whole time we were there. Really pretty actually.

Lots and lots of snow~

The day we left, we made hamburgers for lunch/dinner.

I did not take many photos, and I apologize for that... Now I think I need to go to bed, so I'll be able to blog more tomorrow. ^.^
Bye Bye~

No internett for me...

Hey there~

I just got home from my trip this weekend, where I had not much of an internet connection. Felt so cut of from the world. But it was a really fun weekend, and there was soooo much snow! :o
The car to a buddy of mine got snowed in because of it, and a very mean winter service vehicle. We had to dig and push the car out. Took us like half an hour.

When we arrived at Friday we went to eat and then to the place we were staying. The night consisted of just relaxing and getting settled in (finding out who to sleep where and stuff). Then on Saturday we went to the town and spent some time at the mall. I did not buy a single clothing, make up or hair product while being there, something that I'm quite proud of being able to do! Then we went home and made some food. ^^ Pieces of beef and pommes frites and cheese. The next thing we did was going to the bowling hall. I love to bowl  but sadly I lost so it sung. Ended up at 40 points, when the winner was at 100...-.-
Later we went to a party, and it was lots of fun. Got a new friend, and ate lots of popcorn. ^.^
Sunday consisted of sleeping, eating and traveling with the buss for three hours. So now I'm really tired, and will head to bed.

I was able to take a few pictures, and I'll upload them tomorrow.

Have a good night
Bye bye~

Lolita fashion!

Hello darlings :3

I noticed there haven't been a lot of fashion posts lately, so I thought I'd make a small presentation of a the Japanese fashion style Lolita, which is related to the Kawaii style I described earlier ^^

Even though I'm mostly running my own style now, called: "Norwegian Kawaii - trying to wear cute clothes and catching a cold for doing so", I'm quite fond of the Lolita style too.
I really want to wear an all-out Lolita outfit once, but here in Norway you gotta have a special occasion first.
Well, let me try to explain just what Lolita is! ^^

The Lolita style is a very doll-like look, and pretty much as feminine as you can get it. It puts focus on modesty and elegance, and the clothes should have a high quality in both materials and manufacturing.
It became popular in Japan in 1990's, as an protest against the growing body and skin exposure in modern society. A lot of fashion styles today put a lot of focus on the body and sexiness, so I think it's great with a style that doesn't go with the flow!
The Lolita style has been accused for "being an appeal to some men's fantasies of women being innocent or childish", but that's not the case at all.

"We certainly do not do this for the attention of men. Frequently, female sexuality is portrayed in a way that is palatable and accessible to men, and anything outside of that is intimidating. Something so unabashedly female is ultimately kind of scary – in fact, I consider it to be pretty confrontational. Dressing this way takes a certain kind of ownership of one's own sexuality that wearing expected or regular things just does not. It doesn't take a lot of moxie to put on a pencil skirt and flats. It's not, as some commentators have suggested, some sort of appeal to men's expectation that women should be childlike, or an attempt to pander to pedophiles. Pedophiles like little girls. They don't like grown women who happen to like dresses with cakes on them. I've never been hit on by a pedophile while in Lolita. We don't get into it because it is some sort of misplaced pedo complex or anything, and the objective isn't simply to emulate little girls, despite the name Lolita." - Follower of the Gothic Lolita fashion

There are many subcultures of Lolita fashion, and it would take some time to explain them all. I'll just take the most popular under-styles for now ^^

Sweet Lolita

This is the super girly, bright colored style. It is as cute as utterly possible, and the dresses often have colorful and funny prints of cakes, muffins, cherries, strawberries, flowers, and cute animals like puppies, kittens and bunnies. There are a lot of details, such as bows, frills and laces, and often jewelry.
The make-up shades are mostly pink, peach, pearl and other bright pastels. The hair is often decorated with headdresses and bonnets.

Punk Lolita

This is the punk rock inspired style. I guess you can call a Punk Lolita a more feminine punker. The colors are mostly black, red and similar, and the patterns are plaids and stripes. This style also has a lot of details like safety pins and chains.

Gothic Lolita

Gothic Lolita is a combination of the Lolita and Goth styles. Though some like to use colors like dark purple, dark blue, and dark red, the color palette is usually just black and white.
The make-up focuses on defining the eyes and lips: smokey eyes and dark red lips are popular.
Favorable design items are coffins, bats and some religious symbols like crucifix.

Classic and Causal Lolita

These style variations are a bit more toned down than the others. When I try the Lolita style in the future, it will be something like this ^^
The Classic Lolita is quite similar to the Gothic, just more simple and less decorated. It can also be worn in brighter colors, and then the style turns into Causal Lolita, which is pretty much plain, girly dresses. What separates it from normal dresses is the knee length skirt's shape (think cupcake upside down), and what you might choose to add yourself.
You can wear kneesocks, put a bow in your hair, and use iconic Lolita platform shoes to discreetly show off your Lolita style in a more everyday outfit. Some Lolita fans wear blouses under their dresses for a more modest look. Classic and Causal is quite similar to each other, so I put them together here. The biggest difference is the color palette.

Ooh... this one is just too lovely. Want it. Really bad.

There are still many, many other variations of Lolita! I'll add an illustration to give you an idea of some of the others. Just like the Kawaii style, you can change it a lot like you want to, and combine some of the subcategories. For example, you can be Sweet Gothic by adding light pink bows to a black dress and wear jewelry shaped like fruit!
I like this style because it's unique, feminine and playful. Luckily this fashion is spreading quickly outside Japan too, so maybe it will be easier for non-Japanese Lolita fans to show off their style soon? ^^

Note: I'm not any expert on Lolita fashion, I'm just fond of the style. So if anyone has something to add, or noticed some wrong information, don't hesitate to let me know! :)

What do you think of this fashion? Is it too extreme, childish or just lovely?

Talk to you soon <3

see you soon~

Hello Hello~

Sorry I haven't blogged much lately... I have been so tired after getting home, and now I'm getting ready to go visiting a friend who moved to a city called Mosjøen. Me and two friends are taking the buss... a three hour long drive. I don't like it because I get motion sickness. While we're there I'll try to blog some, and I'm bringing my camera so it's possible. ^.^

I have some pictures from the week on my camera, but I won't have time to get them over to my computer before I leave... Now I have to get going.

Bye Bye~

Inspiring city life!

Hi sweet readers! ^^

So... Today have been a quite normal, busy day. Left the house at 08.20, returned home at 18.40.
After school I walked to a meeting in the other end of town, and after we were done I went to a cafe/restaurant-thingy with my friend. (I think it's a restaurant, but it's too ugly to be called that.) Afterwards we had to attend something called "dark driving", which is a part of the driver training in Norway. It's basically about us sitting in a car while the teacher/driver asks us questions about the signs we pass, and about how to use the headlights and what distance we should keep from the car ahead and such.
It's even more important to learn in Norway, as it's quite dark, snowy and icy in the winter time.
I'm not stressing about driver training yet though, as I have to turn 18 before I can drive.
To all you readers in the USA, and everyone else who can drive when they're 16; I kinda envy you, but at the same time it's kinda scary. I would never get driven by most 16 year-old's I know! Way too immature to be placed in a driver seat O.O
I don't think I want to start driving soon, either. I don't trust myself.
Sure, I'm going to take the driver license, but there's no hurry to get a car. I'm planning on moving to a big city when I finish high school anyway, and it's much better to take the metro or use the trains, in my opinion. A full packed metro is not my favorite thing, but at least you'll arrive on time. The rush traffic on the roads is a very different story! And it's good to the environment to use public transport too ^^

I'm looking forward to spend some time in the city soon! It's noisy and crowded, but the city life has it's charm. Personally, I enjoy watching other people. (Don't get it the wrong way).
There are so many different personalities on the street, and it's fun to look at everyone's individual style. I often try to guess where they are going, where they've been, and what's on their mind.
There are so many details many of us don't notice!
Like how cheerful a little girl becomes when she's feeding the birds, and the business man who is way too late for a meeting.
The couple where the guy is obviously in love and tries to hold her hand, show her things and talk to her, but the girl just keeps on talking with her friend on the phone.
You might find it weird that I notice all this, but all I do is looking outside my own world and see what's around me. I find these tiny glimpses of others life really inspiring! ^^
You can try it yourself! Find a nice spot in a park, at a street cafe, or another public place. Airports and metros are also interesting "melting pots" of many different people.

Shanghai, China

London, England

New Delhi, India

Now, you don't expect me to be the most experienced city girl, but I've always been fascinated by the modern, urban culture. Of course it has some dark sides, but living in a small place does too. It is, like most things in life, what you make it to.
I was born in a city after all, even though I moved to this small town when I was only six years old.
My father and sister still lives there, so I visit many times a year. And as mentioned, my family travels a lot, so I've been lucky too visit many world metro poles! ^.^
And this summer, I'm going to visit Tokyo, the world's largest city, and my expectations are sky high!
I try to keep them low, so I won't get disappointed, but every time I think of it I get that silly little smile and bubbly feeling. It's just like I'm in love. With a city I've never even been too!
Maybe it's good though? You often ignore your loved one's flaws, don't you? Maybe I'll be so dazzled by Tokyo that I won't get negative. Three weeks without any negativity? Got to be good.

Dear Tokyo. You happen to be all I think of at the time, so you better not let me down.
-Sincerely, yours forever, Silje Nikolina.
What do you think? Is the city life important to you, or do you prefer to be in smaller places? Please tell! :3
