Inspirational weekend! \^.^/

Hi pretty ones!

Sorry for not blogging yesterday, I was completely burned out. We had Norwegian writing the whole day at school, and as always I was sitting alone in the end. Not that I'm such a slow writer, I just really want to do good at these tests. In fact, I want to do good at all tests, but you can't be an expert in everything. So I just give it all on those subjects I'm good at ^^
When I checked my mail yesterday, another challenge hit me. I've received the Japanese language test I have to take when we get to Japan. They sent it for giving us a chance to practice, and I'm glad they did!
Note to self: need to learn more hiragana. I really do.
It was a bit of a shock, cause' I've pictured for myself that I didn't had to know that much. In fact I thought I'd do decently with what I know now! But no... More Japanese is needed.

At the same time Gulli is down in the capital and having a blast. Well, she deserves it though. She's had a lot on her mind lately, so I'm happy she has a chance to let to of things ^^

So, what have I been up to lately? To be honest, nothing outside of the normal. Even so I feel like I've been doing so much! I guess it's because I'm thinking a lot. Thinking about my life, the future, things I want to do, things I wish for and so on. I analyze every situation to the unrecognizable, and I always predict what's going to happen  before I have a clue.
It can actually be very positive, as it gives me high hopes for the future and motivates me. I try to learn and take inspiration from my daily life, instead of just walking through it. It puts color in my life ^^
The bad sides is of course that I can get a bit carried away by my ideas, and end up disappointing myself.
Ah well... When you think this way it gives life more content.
A week ago may feel like an eternity for me.

This sort of gives a good image of my mind...
Anyway, I have two tips for you today!

To all kawaii/Japan/fashion loving readers: Try to catch the newest episode of Kawaii International: Harajuku special. I've already watched it, and it gives a great insight on the sub culture in Harajuku. It's the most fashionable and inspiring area in whole Tokyo! (I saw so many shops I want to visit this summer.)
You have to watch the live streaming online through the official channel: http://www3.nhk.or.jp/nhkworld/english/tv/schedule/index.html
This is the schedule for future streaming. Tomorrow is the last day they air it, so be sure to check it out! You should check out their shows anyway, they have many interesting shows on Japanese culture.
You can also take a look at Kawaii International's channel page: http://www.nhk.or.jp/kawaii-i/
Or you can find them on Facebook. A great source for inspiration!

To everybody else: Read the book "North Korea: Nine years to escape from hell". It's completely mind blowing! It's so horrible yet inspiring to read. It is written by Eunsun Kim, a girl who grew up in North Korea but escaped with her mother and sister. The worst part is that everything is true! This book gives an incredible insight in the daily life in one of the most oppressed countries in the world.
I don't care if you don't like books, have a fear of reading or whatever, just read it!

And that's it for me today. Have a nice weekend, everyone! ^w^

Kick start spring :D

Good evening all sweet and tough ones out there! ^^

I know it's been a lack of blogging lately, sorry for that. We have both been quite busy as always, and I had to catch up on some schoolwork.
When I walked home from school today I realized how quickly time has passed. Suddenly it was birds and sprouts on the threes, even though it was cold and silent just two weeks ago. Spring may arrive late, but it arrives fast! I also realized that when April has passed we will be four months into this year. (Yeah yeah, I know that's pretty obvious.) Add another two months and half of 2013 will be gone! Doesn't it sound weird?
I mean, I'm still waiting for the year to get fully started!

Anyway, our theater practice starts 11 am tomorrow, and since I'm home alone I have to walk (around half an hour), make breakfast (around 45 mins; I need time to enjoy my tea), pack my stuff for the sleepover at Gulli's place tomorrow night (around half an hour, if I'm effective), and of course get ready and decide what outfit to wear in the unreliable spring weather (an hour ++).
Which all together means I have to get up too early. That's why I have to make a short and quick blog post!
(But as you may noticed I spent a lifetime writing WHY is had to be short, so my plan failed...)

I thought I'd share some of my music fav's with you. As nature is renewing itself, so is my iPod, and I've been trying out all types of music lately. (Which resulted in a broken headset, r.i.p)

2NE1 - I am The Best. Forever a classic.

PSY - Gentleman. Just in case some of you actually haven't seen it yet.

G-Dragon - Michi Go. Just when I thought no music video could get more random than Crayon, he comes up with this...
WARNING: This video will make you go: WTF?? Guaranteed.

Supercell - Feels so Good. I know it seems a bit sexual according to the title and illustration, but it's really just a cute, jazzy song about weekends. And it's in Japanese, for those who wondered.

That's it for now! Come back later and see what happens when Gulli and I spend 24 hours together without a break... o.o

Good night and sweet dreams ~

A letter to all bitches and bullies

Hi everyone!
I'm in the mood for a bit serious post today, hope you find it inspiring or helpful in any way:

There are a lot of people I think I'll never be able to understand. There are so many ignorant, pre-judging, and straight forward mean human beings out there, that I don't know where to start.
Even though I've accepted it as a part of life, I still get mad when I think of all the fragile, young minds that get crushed by others. How can anyone be mean to kids that's just trying to find their place? They haven't done anything wrong, neither to you or anyone else.
I had a conversation with a younger girl the other day, and when she found out that I was a fan of anime, she got so happy! She said: "I thought no one else but me and my closest friends liked it! Everyone else thinks we're strange...we're a bit of loners."
Anime is still not very popular in Norway, so I'm also used to getting the "strange"-stamp.
But this girl seemed to be quite bothered about it. However you like anime or not, does not define your personality, intelligence, lifestyle, coolness or anything else. It's just a personal interest.
So why is it that a young, insecure girl has to choose between doing what she like or being accepted? I've met a bunch of anime lovers in my life, and they're all different.
I don't like Justin Bieber, but many of my friends do. That doesn't make them less worthy in my eyes!

Don't misunderstand me. It's okay to disagree, and I won't force anyone to like anime or anything else.
But don't bitch around about persons you don't know, and do certainly not bring others down because they got a different opinion than you.
Some people may handle that just fine, while others grow even more insecure and shy. Some people may look fine, but they're really not. You might be a bully without even knowing it.
Whoever gave you the right to put others in a mental jail like that?
It's terrible (believe me, I know the feeling) to feel like you have to hide who you are, or even don't know who you are yet, because the people around you never let you explore.
I know many people pre-judge and assume almost automatically, without thinking any more about it.
This is (sadly) what many parts of society tells us to do, consciously or not.

It touched my heart to see how that girl's face brightened up when I told her I love anime too.
Do people even take the time to try to understand?

It doesn't require much, you guys! Just smile, accept, and go through life with a open heart, and you will make the world a much better place.

Do you have any opinions on the topic? Let me know!

So long ~

Japan Lover

Hi people of the world!

Do you know what days you get done the least? Those with a lot of free time! Wow, I had so much time on my hands today, which could have been used to work out, plan a longer, more intelligent blog post, or have a little photoshoot with all the stuff I received from Japan the other day, but no...
More about the Japan stuff will come later though. I ordered two pairs of shoes from Rainbowholic, a lifestyle blogger which I happen to be a great admirer of ^.^

Oh, it's my turn at the bathroom already... Think of something good to blog about, Silje, think now...
Well, let me just say that you have something to look forward too! The spring has finally arrived here (slowly), so now we'll be able to take more pictures outside :D
I'm having a lot of ideas like video blogging, an-almost-professional photoshoot and long posts, all we need to do is get to work! ^^

Today I felt a sudden urge for Japan (that tends to happen at least once a week), so I've been searching the internet jungle for kawaii this and kawaii that. (Hm, so that's where my afternoon went.)
I see at lot of girls commenting things as "one day I'll go to Japan, it's my biggest dream", and I feel really blessed since I know I'm going there this summer! It's outside the sakura season though, but I guess you can't have everything at once ^^

A new website for Japan lovers all over the world will be opened tomorrow (today for those in a timezone further east); Japan Lover! It seems so promising, and I found the most touching video the crew made for promoting Japan o.o

I guess this proves that I'm a Japan Lover, as it actually made me fell a tear... Can't wait to go!

Talk to you later, loved ones! ~

Spring stress!

Hi everyone! :D

Now it's officially arrived. "What has arrived?" you ask. It's SPRING STRESS! (A term I came up with a minute ago.)
"What is spring stress? -_-" you ask.
It's something I experience every year when winter is coming to an end. You see, I prefer to live through winter like a bear: I eat a lot, get fat, sleep through the whole thing, and then I wake up to the first rays of sunlight with (suddenly) a million of things to take care of. I'm just as surprised every year, and my little brain just can't seem to cope with the sudden changes.
We've entered April and I finally realized:

My theater group is having premiere in just a month. (Where is my script? Where is it?!)
I soon have to sign up schools for this years Operation Dayswork. (It suddenly feels scary to call strangers)
We're going to that cosplay convention soon. (How do I get this stupid wig on??)
We're going to Tokyo soon. (Not that soon, but I'm pretty sure there was some papers to fill in...by March?)
My exams are coming up. (I swear to you, if I get drawn up in math, I might have to kill someone.)
It will soon be time to dress more lightly. (Bikini figure? Who? ME? No.)

All these tasks and more hit me at the same time, and caused something I would call seasonal hangover. (Yep, another self-made term.)
What's a seasonal hangover, you say? It's when you've been really slacking off a whole season, and suddenly times are changing and you're struggling to adapt. This could also happen after the summer holiday.
You're standing there like: "What? Now? I have to do something? How? When? Why? Can I go to bed and pretend everything's normal when I wake up? Is it okay for me to lay down and cry?"

Even though you're confused, the society is quite merciless and force to you get going. But don't worry, it's completely okay to pretend it's a dream (until you wake up and realize it's not), and it's accepted to give up and cry as long as you get up again.
Pretty much like a roller coaster, right? Well, that's mostly what life is ^^

What I've been doing the whole winter.

And you know what's funny? When I get stresses up, it's only mentally, and psychically I'm just as laid back as I've always been. So yeah, I do care, but I'm just really bad at showing it.

Am I the only one going through this?

Talk to you later ~

Here we go again!

Good evening everyone! ^.^
How are you doing?

I've been to a national gathering in Oslo for Operation Daywork(OD) this weekend. It was so much fun, I met new people and learned new things. And it was so good to meet old friends again! The thing you don't get a lot of during seminars is sleep. I'm pretty tired now, and as if that wasn't enough, an explosion of things to do happened when I came home! Once again school work and free time activities collided, and everything turned into one, big mess.

The plan was that Gulli would blog in the weekend while I was away, but unfortunlately some unexpected drama came up in her life.
She is turning 18 this Friday, and she's planning her party carefully. I'm sure you all watched a movie/series where the big birthday party turns into a hopeless drama, and well, we've seen some dangerous signs :/

Of course I'll continue to blog during this, I'll try to keep you updated on both our lives and other stuff! ^^
When there's a lot happening during a short period of time, you just have to find good ways to relax, and stick to them. For me, eating chocolate, meditating, listening to music and talking to good friends are a must. I'll also try to do more yoga when I have the time, as it really helps me to focus my mind and body. It gets me in better shape for spring too, win-win! I even went crazy at a book shop the other day, and bought three thick English novels. Anything for a little break from your own concerns, I guess :)

You might wonder why there's a picture of a laid back frog in this post? Well, that's how I feel now, at the end of the day. Luckily, my happy-go-lucky personality still shines through. At least it will do after a good sleep!

Good night and sweet dreams <3

Our theater life; Taco and Movie night~

Hi guys

So guess what? I've managed to get sick... This is so typical, I've managed to not get sick for a looong time actually. Now that I've gotten better and has the energy to blog a little, I thought I'd show some of the pictures from our practice and social night with the theater.

Working hard in the kitchen! ~

What we did while the others made food. ^^

My super spicy taco <3

Omnomnomnom :3
After eating taco we watched the movie; Kick Ass. It is a funny movie, and by the end of it you'll be wanting to try doing some high kicks and all. xD

Now I'm going to go back to finish writing some form about our trip to Japan. So hope you enjoyed this post. ^.^
Bye Bye~

The ideal vacation!

Hello, my rays of sunshine! ^^ (wow, that's creative)

Last night when I couldn't sleep, I found myself to be in the poetic corner. So I wrote a description of myself in my dairy, going like this: "Silje, you are much like a flower. Whenever the sun shines and everything is well, you blossom along with all your colors and all your glow. But as soon as a little shadow comes in front of you, you pull back all your flower petals and become a regular, boring plant. You need to learn to be more sensitive for sunlight, so that you can shine during dark times too! ^^"
When I read it again this morning I didn't understand why I made it so complicated. "Silje, honey, you have serious mood swings. Do something about it." That's how I should have written it.

Anyway, I'm happy now! It's Friday and I can finally stuff in on chocolate and candy like the sinful girl I am.
The weather at home now is seriously crappy; I feel so sorry for all the tourists that have taken their time to visit now. I hope you make it home alive, and that you don't break any bones on the icy roads.
I would also like to apologize on behalf of the Norwegian weather gods. They suck.

As you might understand, I need a vacation. Kind of ironic since I have a vacation right now, but it's not the type of vacation I need.

Key elements for a successful, tropic vacation:

  • Temperatures above 20 degrees Celsius.
  • A good place to buy yummy, cheap ice cream.
  • A little shop that fulfills all your cravings for sun lotion, soda in foreign tastes, weird candy, aloe vera-gel, and plastic flowers to put in your hair.
  • A beach bar or pool bar that makes excellent fruit shakes.
  • Cheap massage and manicure/pedicure.
  • A little market to fulfill the rest of your needs after you've been to the little shop.
  • At least one good restaurant that have something you like.
  • At least one, fancy place where you can dress up with all the summer fashion outfits you brought, but can't use on the beach.
  • Good summer music.
  • Some hot guys.
Key elements for a not-so-successful tropic vacation:

  • Sunburn. Serious sunburn.
  • All kinds of diseases like infections, wounds and diarrhea.
  • Insects. Insects everywhere.
  • Evil monkeys.
  • Evil animals in general.
  • Scary people that speaks way to fast or way to slow.
  • Jellyfish. Especially those who hunt many together.
  • Others from your home country that acts like morons.
  • Men who wants to marry you after knowing you for three seconds.
  • Men who doesn't take no for a no.
  • Bikinis and swimsuits that doesn't fit you.
Well, it's going to be a long time before I can experience any of the above again. Not that there's anything wrong with going to Tokyo for the summer, but that's a different type of vacation. In fact, I think I might make a good/bad-list for city vacations too.
As it is now, any place would do good! >.<

How I feel these days (if you haven't watched this video yet: DO IT) :

You gotta love that woman.

Talk to you guys soon, and hopefully the weather is better where you are! :D

Bye bye ~

Home Sweet Home

Good morning all you lovely people out there ^.^

After a three hour long bus ride, we finally got home yesterday. It was a really long ride, and I was so glad when we finally arrived. I am not a big fan of traveling with bus because I get bus sick very easily... But after a good nights sleep I am re-energized and ready for a new day! My friend Therese is sleeping over at my place for the winter break, and in a couple of hours we're going to the town where we'll meet Silje. ^^

It feels quite good to be back home after two weeks away, and finally I'll get to drink yummy coffee again. I am gonna bring my camera with me so I can take some pictures. I don't have any new to show you now so his will be a picture less kinda post. Well, now I'm gonna fiks my nail before we go so I'll talk to you when I get back home. ^.^

Bye Bye~

What I've been up to lately ^.^ +purchases +outfits

Bonjour~

I wanted to wish all of you a belated happy Valentines day! Have not been on the computer much, and the days have been filled with work, eating or sleeping... On Valentines day I was working and went out to eat dinner when I finished work. Didn't do much more on that day since I was really tired. Yesterday was my last day at work, so now I can sleep and just relax the whole winter break. It's gonna be so good. And I also have time to blog, yaay! This is also my last weekend here in Mosjøen, and I am looking forward to get home to my friends. Yesterday my friend Audun came to visit, and it's so much fun being able to see him again. Just like me, he has also been working these past two weeks.

Today we went shopping! I finally got my scholarship money so I got me some new clothes. Happy~ ^.^
I will show you what I got, but first some pictures from my days here.

This is where I have been working the past two weeks. A more than hundred years old bakery. It was really great working there because everything was made from scratch and the people there was fun working with. (worked mostly with the owner since the other employee was on sick leave)
This is the owen where the bread and cakes are baked. Really warm and good to stand by~ ^^

While I was there I got to help make a lot of stuff, like the danish bread I mentioned in another post that I ate for breakfast. Also been making bread, berliner, different types of cookies, and Norwegian Prince's cake (fyrstekake). I have also been managing the checkout. It was really fun talking to all the different types of customers that come in.
The things we sell

the beginning of danish pastry

Chocolate cookies~ They were super yummy when just taken out of the oven!

A good example of my breakfast/lunch everyday o0
As for my dinner the past day, I've made different stuff. Made chicken soup one of the first days, and wok vegetables on rice with chili sauce, of course noodles, beef strips or spring rolls and onion rings. We have also been eating out sometimes.

This is actually what I ate on Valentines day. I really regret ordering this, because it was mostly mushrooms in it ( I hate mushrooms...) and the menu said nothing about mushrooms.. -.-

This has to be the best burger I've ever tasted! t's called the King Burger and it really is~

Wok veggies and rice :D

My chicken soup ^^ it's really good~

Dessert at a chinese restaurant; Banana split <3
Like I said earlier in the post my friend Audun came yesterday, and we went out to eat King Burgers again. Then our friend wanted to show us his workplace so we went there and I got to try on one of their work uniforms. They were sooo comfy! I could easily walk around in one of those all day. Had a lot of fun by taking pictures with it around the machines. (he is a mechanic)

Audun~ :D

Aw yeah! borrowed his bunny ears and card glasses ^.^

Looking good~ xD

I felt kinda small alongside all those big tricks ;o

Maybe I'm in the wrong school, maybe I should be a mechanic :p

My legs don't look too bad in these ^^

Do I got swag? xD

Even managed to take some outfit snaps, but unfortunately only these two...

If you follow my instagram you have probably already seen this pic. I really love my faux fur hat <3

Pretty night view~
In honor of Valentines day;

Really liked this jacket :D perfect for when it gets warmer out

A cute top I found on sale

Socks, you can never get too many because they always disappear in mysterious ways...-.-

Really cute underwear~ ^.^

My new love <3
I finally pursued my mom into letting me use contacts! :D

Strawberry milkshake :3 yummy ^^

<3
This was a looong post, but I hope you enjoyed reading it ^.^
Bye bye~
